Meet Ya Girl, Leslie Small.
I am so happy you are reading this. I started this website mentally over a decade ago. It was not until I began my career as a website designer and brand manager that I felt comfortable sharing my story and experiences online.
Building YaGirlSmalls the website was driven by my passion for writing and sharing stories and experiences with others online. I craved my own creative outlet. Even though I write professionally for several other brands post-graduate and am at my dream job I still felt the need to focus on myself and take time to write about what I want!
Working in the digital world can be lonely sometimes, but I cannot imagine it any other way.
In recent years staying at home has been one of my greatest passions since I work from home. I started a blog for fun to document all the style and outfit inspiration, travels, eats, and home and gardening tips I pick up along the way.
When I am not busy with our marketing agency on the Outer Banks, I am a homemaker on an endless quest to find the time, energy, and budget to pursue my goals. I currently live with my partner of four years.
We met during my senior year at NC State University and while he was stationed with the Marine Corps in Jacksonville. We dated long-distance a few months after we first met.
Then we made California to Carolina work for almost a year, through COVID. Only for him to relocate to Gates County, my one-stop-light hometown in North Carolina to be with me.
Currently, we are renovating our fully furnished, 1950s time capsule of a house I purchased from my purchased 94-year-old next-door neighbor at 23.
I work from home as a freelancer so, being in our house is where I truly feel in my element surrounded by my mostly thrifted decor, ever-expanding wardrobe, and makeup collection, and making a mess in my kitchen cooking and entertaining with friends and family.
